The ISA Ag Urban Leadership Initiative seeks interested leaders from both the agricultural and urban community. For 2008, we are looking for pairs of leaders from the same general area, so that they might partner on ideas and projects that would benefit their home county/community.

All interested participants are invited to fill out the application form below. We seek 10 farmer participants and 10 non-farmer participants for each year’s class. Once you apply, we will contact you by phone to confirm your application.

Tuition:
Farmer participants are asked to pay $250 tuition for participation in the class. If the participant attends all five class sessions, the tuition will be refunded. The Iowa Soybean Association will pick up the remaining $750 of the individual’s tuition through the soybean checkoff, paid by all soybean farmers.

Non farmer participants are asked to pay $1,000 either individually or through their employer. If the participant attends all five class sessions, $250 of the tuition will be refunded. Employers and sponsoring organizations will be invited to attend special class sessions as well as our final session and luncheon in December of 2008. Sponsoring employers will also be provided a class schedule along with a field trip schedule so that they might participate in events of their choosing.

Tuition covers all meals, materials, travel, and an overnight stay during the December event as well as facilitation and speaker expenses.

We believe the opportunity to build business and community development connections within this program is a strong incentive for both farm and urban participants to get involved. The Iowa Soybean Association has long been recognized as one of Iowa’s strongest agriculture associations, with activities stretching into environmental, research, on-farm assessment, soy foods, biofuels and livestock production.
